What does it take to sustain a creative life? The On Practice series, presented by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage in partnership with the Barnes, brings the 2025 cohort of Pew Fellows in the Arts together to share artistic process, influences, and ideas behind their work. Join us for an intimate look at how the artists shaping Philadelphia’s cultural scene experiment, discover, and create.
Today’s program features director and performance artist Rose Jarboe, multidisciplinary artist José Ortiz-Pagán, and visual artist George Rodriguez in a conversation about community-engaged creative practice and making work designed to contextualize and respond to public spaces. The Center’s Zach Blackwood moderates the discussion.
This event takes place in the Comcast NBCUniversal Auditorium.
Supporting artists since 1992, the Pew Fellowships in the Arts program nurtures local artistic talent through 12 annual, unrestricted grants. Working in all artistic disciplines, Pew Fellows are visual artists, filmmakers, composers, choreographers, theater makers, writers, and more. As of 2026, The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage has awarded 424 fellowships to artists living and working in the Philadelphia region. This program is made possible through the operating partnership between the Center and the Barnes.
