About

Saturday, October 10, 2026 | 10:00–11:30 AM
English Landscape at Awbury Arboretum (Meet on the Cope House side: 1 Awbury Rd., Philadelphia, PA. Parking available on Washington Lane & Ardleigh St.)

Discover the many uses of autumn’s bounty on a guided forage walk through Awbury’s English Landscape with Food Forest lead volunteer Jeannie Gerth. We’ll search for wild edibles while harvesting Buckeyes (Aesculus species) and English ivy (Hedera helix), two plants rich in saponins that can be used to make natural laundry detergent. Participants will take home harvested materials along with instructions for creating their own eco-friendly detergent.
