Formed in Philadelphia in 1978, The A's released two albums on Arista Records — The A's (1979) and A Woman's Got the Power (1981) — and a self-released EP, Four Dances (1982). The title track from their second album reached the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and the band built a loyal local following before being dropped by Arista and disbanding.
