James “Jimmy Jam” Harris III is an American record producer and songwriter, best known as one half of the production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. He started his career in the band The Time and later produced landmark albums such as Janet Jackson’s Control and Rhythm Nation 1814, earning multiple Grammy Awards and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022.
